Air Conditioning Maintenance: Spring Is Only Weeks Away!

spring ac maintenance north jersey

Believe it or not, the first day of spring 2020 is less than two weeks away! Before you know it, temperatures will start rising as we begin our march toward what some suspect will be a hotter than average summer.

When that time comes, you’ll be leaning heavily on your central air conditioner to keep you cool in the sweltering NJ heat. The problem is that by the time it gets hot enough to put your A/C to work, it has been idle for more than half a year – and if you haven’t had a cooling system tune-up since you last used it, you can’t know for sure if your equipment will answer the bell that first hot day of 2020. By that time, you’ll also be at the end of a long line of folks waiting to get professional air conditioning service in NJ.

That’s why routine air conditioning maintenance is so important, and why you should do it sooner rather than later: an annual tune-up can address minor issues before they become expensive air conditioner repairs when you need your home cooling system most (and when you’ll wait longer and pay more for service).

Four things you can do for your home cooling system in the coming weeks

Although air conditioner maintenance is not a do-it-yourself project (please don’t try it if you’re not a professional!), here are three things you can do to get the ball rolling once we work our way into the warmer spring weather:

  1. Check your ductwork – Look for obvious holes, cracks and connectors. If you find any – or even if you don’t, since many leaks in your ductwork can’t be seen – consider sealing your ducts to improve your air quality and lower your home energy bills.
  2. Test your A/C unit – Briefly run it to check for problems – that way you can fix them before summer really kicks in.
  3. Clear obstructions around the outdoor unit – Remove sticks, leaves, and other debris from around your outdoor unit.
  4. Clean your vents and replace your air filters – Use a microfiber to clear any dust and dirt that may have accumulated on register covers over the winter. Check your air filters, too, installing a new one before the season begins.

Avoid the late-spring crowd – sign up for a JW Pierson Cool Comfort air conditioning plan and schedule your routine maintenance visit today. You’ll have a much better chance of finding a convenient service appointment, and you will guarantee yourself peak cooling system performance from the very first hot day of spring 2020.

If you’re considering a new A/C system, we install and maintain energy-efficient central air conditioning systems from American Standard, Goodman and Tempstar, along with Fujitsu ductless mini-split air conditioners.
